Last week I did a big reveal, some of the screens came down and the curtains were drawn back. I assure you however there are still some cards we have safely stored up our sleeves to reveal in due course so don’t think you have […]
Greetings from Majacraft 🙂 February is upon us already and can you believe it, the NZ equivalent of Walmart is already got Easter eggs on the shelf! January seems to have gone in just a blink so I guess I really am aging. If you […]
There have been a whole bunch of rather neat things happening around the workshop this weekend and I thought I would share them photgraphically with you.
Rob’s wife Carys organises the shipping for most of what is sent from Majacraft and the other day their (Rob and Carys’) daughter Hope spent the afternoon with us. She is a delight to have around and made a leaf necklace that I couldn’t not take a picture of.
I was reading in the paper recently that some of New Zealand’s butterflies are in some danger as people are poaching them and exporting them to other countries for collectors. Because they are invertebrates, they are not covered by the conversation laws in the same way as our other animals. One of the butterflies being targetted is the Admiral family. This week this Orange Admiral arrived in the packing area and flew around the spider webs with something of a suicidal fervor. We carefully caught it and I managed to get a couple of photos before it was let go again.
The final interesting bit of news was the arrival of this hot rod. It belongs to a family friend that we have known since I was a child. He has always been a HUGE car nut building hot rods for fun and show. This is one that he imported from the US and rebuilt over here. Inside, there are no skins on the doors or anything. It has a big V8 engine and we were commenting on how noisy it must be to drive in. Well, Chris (the owner) said that he actually has to drive with earplugs in because it is so loud. Plus, he can’t drive it in the middle of summer as it gets so hot that the combination of the weather and engine actually ends up burning his feet! Personally, after looking at it, I wouldn’t care because it was AWESOME 🙂
My wife Toni had some jobs to do this morning so I offered to take care of our daughter Sophie for a couple of hours. There are plenty of child size activities to do in the office but she was keen to come and spend […]
Our first week back at Majacraft is over and it has been a lot of fun. There are so many irons we have in the fire which we will be sharing with you over the year it is just crazy. I have been mixing my […]
And so another year has started today. A month off has gone very quickly in retrospect. Wheels are going out the door and we are busy making plans and schemes ready for lots of fibrey goodness in the upcoming year! I sincerely hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year
Our Camp is approaching fast and I am getting excited about the visit to Wellington and the opportunity to meet Lexi/Pluckyfluff. I think it is going to be very cool to her come visit wee New Zealand. If you are on the fence about coming along, I would recommend it highly – but move quickly.
My aplogies on no major Majacraft news for you today. My family and I had a lovely Christmas day which was very nice and relaxed. We had a French toast breakfast and fruit lunch. In the afternoon we got a water slide out for the […]
Here is some not Majacraft news – mostly. Three more days of work this year before our summer break. The “That Project” wheels are just about finished. I guess they will probably not make the Christmas stockings this year but should be there soon after. For those who are interested in the Treasure Hunt I mentioned a post or two ago, the clues were not just going to be hidden in photos, reread the message 🙂
And here is the not the Majacraft news. I went to see Avatar in 3d over the weekend. I thought it was absolutely breathtaking! Now in saying that, I am a sci fi fan and can usually find something redeeming in most movies. I found it exciting, moving, a spectacle and highly recommend it. I plan on seeing it at least once more so would suggest that if you are on the fence GO SEE IT!
As the year wraps up for us at the workshop, we had our end of year party/lunch today. Games of petanque, drinks, a BBQ and lovely pavlova dessert under the gingko tree made for a very pleasant afternoon. We only have 3-4 days before we […]
